As the Assistant Engineer and AHOD, I oversee the engineering and maintenance operations at our hotel. My role encompasses managing and coordinating the maintenance, repair, and improvement of our physical infrastructure, equipment, and systems. I lead and guide engineering teams, oversee hiring, training, and performance management of staff, and develop and implement maintenance and engineering policies. I supervise maintenance, repairs, and renovations, ensuring adherence to routine maintenance schedules and responding promptly to emergency maintenance issues. Additionally, I assist in developing the annual maintenance and engineering budget, monitor expenses, and manage resources efficiently to ensure adherence to the budget. Compliance and safety are paramount in my role. I ensure our hotel complies with local building codes and safety regulations and implement and maintain safety programs to protect employees, guests, and assets. I also collaborate with vendors to procure materials and services at competitive prices, evaluate vendor performance, and negotiate contracts. Project management is another key aspect of my responsibilities. I oversee capital improvement projects and renovations, develop project timelines and budgets, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. I am also committed to energy efficiency, implementing energy-saving initiatives to reduce utility costs and environmental impact, and monitoring and reporting on energy consumption. Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment inventory is crucial. I provide regular reports to the Director of Engineering or General Manager. Above all, I strive to exceed guest expectations by maintaining a well-maintained, safe, and comfortable environment.
